Swaying the Santhali way

Santhali Dance performed at Thiruvananthpuram, Kerala

The Santhali dance show presented in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala in February 2018, threw light upon some of the lesser known art forms of India.

Having derived its name from the Santhal community, the Santhali dance is known for its unique choreography and its accompanying instruments such as the flute, madol, and the lagra. The madol, a native percussion instrument, sets the tempo of the dance.

The Santhali dance is often performed during the festive season of Durga Puja or even on a full-moon night.
